Eyes Wide Open and Wobbly Legs

So Hyde and his brothers and sisters are 3 weeks old now. Can't believe that in only 3 more weeks we will be bringing him home! I am getting more anxious and excited by the minute. So excited that I have even started buying Hyde stuff from Petsmart. I got him the cutest blue leash from Petsmart the other day. Every time I go into Petsmart I am always finding stuff that I want to get him. He is going to be one spoiled puppy! Their eyes have officially opened and they are even starting to walk...or at least trying to. They are very wobbly on their feet, but they are getting the hang of it. Right now all the puppies’ eyes are a blue/grey color, but soon they will change into the characteristic amber eyes of the Vizsla. I cannot believe how quickly they are growing. There is an obvious size difference from when they were first born. Here is a video of them walking, and if I do say so myself it is one of the cutest things ever! Make sure to turn the volume up...wouldn’t want to miss all the cute puppy noises now! Enjoy!

It's A Boy!!!

Exciting new!! Little Hyde was born on Tuesday March 13, 2012!!! Zuriah (the mom) had a total of 8 puppies!!! They are all doing good and look great. On Friday they had their first vet date, where they got their dewclaws removed and their tails docked. The breeder sent us some pictures of mom and the puppies. They are so tiny and adorable. Of course we have no idea which one is going to be Hyde yet, but he is in there somewhere. LOL. We should be getting pictures weekly if not daily of them so there will be plenty more to come. In other news we also got another puppy! She obviously was not planned, but we fell in love with her. She is an adorable stray that our cousin found in Compton. She was about 8 weeks when we got her and we have now had her for two weeks. She is doing great and has completely settled in with the family. We know that she is definitely part pit bull but we have no idea what her other part is. We have named her Reese and absolutely love her. It works out perfect because by the time we get Hyde in the beginning of May she will be about 4 months. They will only be about 2 months apart, so they will be perfect little playmates. So much exciting stuff happening in our family and I know there will be more to come. Above are some pictures of Zuriah and her puppies and Reese. Enjoy!! =)

Puppy or the bad seed?

Because I am talking about Opti as a puppy, I thought I would include one of my favorite pictures of him as one. This picture shows perfectly the Opti I knew as a puppy. Hope you enjoy it to.I was thinking the other day and realized that Hyde is going to be born in about 3 weeks. I cannot believe that it is already so soon. Even though I am excited about it, I am also a bit nervous. A new puppy is hard, almost like having a newborn baby, but a vizsla puppy takes hard to a whole other level. My experience with Opti was very interesting to say the least. I thought Opti was going to be a breeze to train...boy was I wrong. When we first picked him out and brought him home, he was the sweetest and calmest puppy ever! Even when he first arrived at our house he was an angel. When it was time to put him to sleep in his crate, that was when all hell broke loose. He cried all through the night and ever since that night he was a red ball of energy. He was the most stubborn and difficult puppy ever! There were honestly times when I thought to myself, "Is it too late to take him back?". Despite all this I could not help but love him. Now that I am looking back at this I have been making a list of all the things not to do and to do with Hyde. I am determined to make this puppy training experience as smooth as possible. This is why I often call Opti my "Guinea Pig Puppy". I had no clue what to expect when I first got him and pretty much learned along the way. This is why I am a bit more confident about getting Hyde. I am making my plan and know exactly how I want to train, socialize and raise Hyde. We will just have to see how it goes.

The Boy Who Started it All!!

I got my first vizsla about two years ago (October 31, 2009 to be exact). We got him from an amazing breeder in Ramona, CA. Even before we got him, we had decided on a name already. I am a huge lover of the Transformers movies, so we decided on a Transformers related name. The name that we decided on was Opti (short for Optimus Prime, the leader of the autobots). It was love at first sight! The two years we spent together are some of the best memories I will ever have. Tragically my Opti left me for the Rainbow Bridge on December 31, 2011. I was completely heartbroken and swore to myself I would never get another vizsla again. Easier said than done right? When I saw that the breeder we got Opti from, was expecting a litter of puppies in March from Opti's dad, I could not resist. We have already decided on a name that is, of course, Transformers related. The name we have decided on is Hyde (short for Iron Hide). Even though we are not getting him until May, I am starting this blog now so I can share the months of preparation for Hyde, my fond memories of Opti and the adventures that are sure to come! I hope you enjoy this blog and fall in love just like I have.
